Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild

mvqg3Tuesday night, I had the opportunity to present a trunk show to my own quilt guild, the Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild.

mvqg1I have been a part of this quilt guild since around 1997. I have been so blessed to be a part of this guild. They bring in top name quilters and have great workshops. They have a terrific library of books that are available to borrow. I learned much of what I know today because of those teachers and those books. Many of my quilts have been a direct result of one of the guild challenges that were offered yearly. Among them are “First December in Ohio”, “Beautiful Treasures“, “Wedding Dreams“, “Daddy’s Arms“, “Teacup“, and “Glorious Gold“. Because of those challenges, I was motivated to seek out and participate in other challenges as well.

If you aren’t involved in your local quilt guild, I highly recommend it. Everyone in my guild is very friendly and eager to encourage. My favorite time is always show and tell, when people bring their newest works. Last night I enjoyed sharing my quilts and telling my story of how I’ve learned and grown through the years. So thanks, Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild. I would not be the quilter I am today if it weren’t for you.

Thank you for sharing your creations with us Maria. Your workshop on making faces has inspired me to jump in and try new things even as the “traditional” quilter that I am.

Maria…thanks for the tremendous presentation…got lots of requests for another workshop for the Guild…I still have not quilted the beautiful portrait from the workshop, but I am gathering the courage to meet the “challenge”…
