Improve your free-motion quilting skills

2012 FMQ Challenge
Have you wanted to give free-motion quilting a try? Or, do you want to improve your skills? You might want to join SewCalGal’s 2012 Free Motion Quilting Challenge. I thought this would be a great way for me to get to know George. Maybe it would motivate you, too.

Each month there will be a different guest teacher who is a free-motion quilting expert. Quilters like:

(I confess it was Diane’s name that especially lured me in!)
If you’re interested, pop over to SewCalGal’s site and sign up. It’s low-pressure. You work at your own pace, and there will also be monthly giveaways for everyone participating.

I thought it was only geared to home/domestic machines rather than longarms. Other than that how does it work? Does one have to send in things to her or what does the whole routine consist of? You can tell I’ve never tried this mode of classwork………..

I haven’t done it before either, but I’m assuming each guest teacher will be focusing on a specific technique or patterns, so I don’t think it will really matter what machine you use. (George is mounted stationary in a table so it basically works just like any typical home sewing machine.) Reading the challenge website, it looks like once a month you submit your samples and they’ll do a drawing of all the ones submitted.
