Here’s my review of 2012 (DD#2′s idea), but I’m going to start a few months earlier because I especially like those events.
So, in addition to speaking and teaching at fifteen quilt guilds in less than two years, writing twelve articles for Quilting Arts during that same time, and making three trips to California to visit my dad, here is my life for the last eighteen months in pictures.
- June 2011, celebrated our 30 year anniversary
- September 2011, reached the half century mark
- November 2011, “Windblown” wins!
- December 2011, George came to live with us
- January 2012, found out DD#2 was expecting
- March 2012, DD#1 got engaged
- March 2012, four days later, sweet hubby had a stroke
- March 2012, five days later, found out DD#2′s baby had anencephaly and could not survive outside the womb
- May 2012, finished “Surrender” in honor of Amalya
- May/June 2012, took two Nancy Crow workshops
- June 2012, celebrated another anniversary
- July 2012, met Amalya through a 3-D ultrasound
- Summer and Fall 2012, did lots of wedding preparations
- September 2012, said goodbye to my father
- September 2012, four days later, kissed Amalya hello and goodbye
- October 2012, celebrated another birthday with another Nancy Crow workshop
- October 2012, finished remaining DIY wedding preparations
- November 2012, DD#1 got married
- December 2012, our son-in-law was accepted into grad school for physical therapy
- 2012, Jesus was with us each and every moment of the year and beyond
We’re looking forward to an uneventful 2013.

Thank you so much for this beautiful post. It is wonderful to see how you turn life’s events into beautiful works of art. My year has had some major challenges, nothing like yours. But I need to look at those events in a different light. Happy New Year.

Thank you for sharing the pieces of the journey you traveled this past year. My heart space opened wide and deeply felt the story of family, love, faith and you, with a bit of artist creating stirred into the dough. Appreciation for all you shared.
May 2013 have, perhaps, fewer highlights….and continue to blossom with the deep love of a wonderful woman and her family.
