10 things I learned from my dad this week

We just came back from visiting with my dad for a week. He has been suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease for four or five years now. He is living with my brother and sister-in-law who do an amazing job caring for him. It is exhausting, of course, especially since they both work full time. My hubby and I went out to give them a little break. I really enjoyed watching and listening to Dad. Thank you for my daddy

I’m so thankful for my daddy. I love his easy-going nature and his sense of humor. He is incredibly generous and is a man of integrity. Before he developed Alzheimer’s, he had an amazing ability to add up long strings of numbers in his head and had a terrific memory. Even now he is typically cheerful. One thing he taught me is the futility of the “blame game,” which was the inspiration behind my quilt, “Always Establish Who’s At Fault.” I’m also very thankful for the sweet man who [ ... ]
