Can this studio be cleaned in five days?

Studio - before
Studio – before
My quilt guild is collecting items for an upcoming auction, so now is the perfect time for me to clean my studio. It’s a wreck, of course. I’m great at organizing something initially, but I’m awful at maintaining that organization. As a result, I pull out everything for a project and when I’m done with it, I push it to the side and pull out more stuff for the next project. I end up with layers of stuff piling up on my table, on the floor, in the corners — basically any flat surface!

I keep promising myself that I’ll do better, and I’ll put stuff away before I start the next project. I never do. Once I end the frenzy of one quilt, I am brain-dead and don’t do anything for a couple weeks. When I come alive again and want to make another quilt, I’m so excited that I have to start NOW! So, stuff gets pushed to the side and another layer forms.

So, as much as I hate to admit that I’m a lousy housekeeper, I’m going to see how much I can get cleaned up by next Tuesday, and I’ll post before and after pictures as I go. Do you think that will keep me focused and motivated? I hope so!

I still have other obligations that I still have to keep (see, I’m already making excuses!), but I’ll spend as much free time as possible working on this mess.

You sound just like me! My husband goes nuts because I get my room all cleaned up and organized and as soon as I begin to work, it’s gone! Nothing but chaos! Oh Well! Can’t be creative and neat at the same time. Just found your work and you are awesome. Very inspiring to go and try a new technique. Will be keeping up with your posts. Congrats on being so talented!

  2. Thanks, Wendy! Thought I’d take a break from cleaning and check my computer, and there you were 🙂

Okay, enough procrastinating and back to work!
