1985 Christmas ornament
1985 Christmas ornament
I’ve always enjoyed Christmas. I love the reason behind it, and I loved sharing the excitement with my kids as they grew up. Each year I made an ornament for them. Sometimes it was something that related to their experiences that year, sometimes it was something I was interested in or experimenting with, sometimes it was just a random idea that I thought was pretty.

My girls are both adults now, so I thought it was time to give them their ornaments. That way they can decorate their own homes. DD#1 isn’t married yet, but it’s still time for her to have them instead of me holding on to them. DD#2 got married in 2007. I actually gave them to her last year, but I asked for them back so I could photograph them all. I just finished checking that off my To Do list, so she gets to take them home again.

Now that I have all this nice pictures, I thought it would be fun to post a set of ornaments each day leading up to Christmas. The first one I made was for DD#1 when she was just 10 months old. A friend of ours was hosting a Christmas party and he had ready-to-paint ornaments for everyone to decorate. Even then, I liked blue. I also loved calico fabrics, so I painted the “stuffed” donkey with pink and purple flowers. The poor little thing got broken at some point and DH glued it back together. Otherwise, it looks good as new.

I did the same thing… I still have the ornaments… I should have given them back to them…. There is a bit of love packed in all those ornaments… I just may dig them out and give them to the boys.
    Thanks for posting…
