Completed shelves
Today we worked some more on those Ikea shelves that I painted earlier this week. I used Mod Podge to glue fabric to the front of the drawers and then sealed it with another layer of Mod Podge. Don’t you just love that fabric? For the first four drawers I used some of that luscious blue fabric I bought back in August. It’s called “Hungarian Blue” and is designed by Sue Zipkin for Clothworks Fabric Collections.

DH got out his drill and attached some kitchen cabinet pulls to the top along the front and sides. The shelves will eventually be installed on the wall above the water cooler, so I wanted the cabinet pulls installed to create a little fence. That way when the shelf accidentally gets bumped, things wouldn’t fall off. I plan on keeping some mugs and glasses on the bottom shelf so it will be easy to grab a drink. Maybe I’ll keep loose tea in pretty jars on the top shelf.

We ran out of time tonight, so the cabinet pulls will be attached to the second shelf another day. Right now I have the shelves stacked, but when they are mounted on the wall, they will be mounted separately with a space between the two.
