Fallingwater and Quill Haven B&B

Quill Haven B&BOn Sunday afternoon, we hit the road and headed east. I am scheduled to lecture and teach in Maryland on Wednesday and Thursday, so we decided to start the trip with a couple days R&R. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary next month, so we decided to start early. A short stay at a bed and breakfast sounded wonderful! We ended up at the Quill Haven Country Inn Bed and Breakfast in Somerset, Pennsylvania. I highly recommend it. I know you won’t be disappointed.

See those two windows in front on the second floor? That’s where we stayed. We splurged and reserved the Bridal Suite. Of course, I also chose it because it was the only one decorated in blue! The large, sunken bathtub and the four-poster bed didn’t hurt either, and Dave didn’t mind testing out the hot tub out back.

The real bonus of the trip was that we got to see Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, which was only about thirty minutes away. Sadly, they do not allow any photos taken on the premises to be posted on websites or blogs without permission, and the email address they gave me to ask permission was no good. Otherwise, seeing this iconic building was really inspirational! I told DH that it’s one of those places that you learn about in art history but never expect to see. It really is a spectacular place, and if you’re ever in the area, be sure to take time to see it!
