My friend Beth Schillig showed me the fabulous cover she made for her Quilt Art Engagement Calendar. What a great idea! I never would have thought of it, but as soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make one too. I thought it would be perfect to be able to bring with me when I speak and teach.

Since Beth was writing an article on the process, she kindly allowed me to make a sample to test her instructions. Yippee! I went to my fabric stash and decided to use some glitzy blue and silver fabrics that I’ve been holding on to for a long time. Beth’s instructions used Shiva Paintstiks but I didn’t have a metallic silver one, so I decided to use some Jacquard Lumiere paint instead. I also made a few minor changes so I could use a wide variety of fabrics. For instance, I used a different fabric for the front flap. This is the fabric with all those wonderful spirals which I continued onto the main fabric with the silver paint.

I added a pen loop so I’ll be ready to schedule a workshop or lecture at a moment’s notice. Any takers?
