International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati!

April 13, 14, and 15 will be very big days for quilters in Ohio and the surrounding regions. The International Quilt Festival will be in Cincinnati!

I still don’t know if I’ll be able to make it. I’ll be taking my sweet husband to yet another specialist on Friday. They are still trying to determine why he had a stroke at just 53. Today, they did a transesophageal echocardiogram or TEE to take a closer look at his heart. Friday will be the third doctor’s visit this week alone, and a new test.

In any case, it seems unlikely I’ll make it to the Cincinnati show. “Windblown” will be there. If you’re going to the show, be sure to look for it. If you have a camera along, I’d love it if you could email me a snapshot of it.

My friend had a stroke at 40 which they said was due to constricted blood vessels due to migraine. She’s very careful about her diet these days, staying away from migraine culprits and has been fine for 15 years now. Hope they figure out Dear Hubby’s issues soon so he too can “be fine” from now on!

    1. We’ve been very careful with our diet, too. In 2008 when I quit my full time job, we started to eat much healthier than before with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and few processed foods. In 2010 we started following the “World’s Healthiest Foods” approach, focusing in on the most nutrient rich fresh foods including fruit, veggies, beans, seafood, etc. I would say the last four years we’ve eaten healthier than ever before.

Have they done a heart scan? (My husband had one….actually found out it was less pricey to have it done at Kettering than MVH) . I’m sure they have checked for a hole in septum of heart. That can cause a clot. Harolyn Burns has experience with that in her family. Specialist in Chicago plugged it up without having to have heart surgery as they use the femoral artery.

    1. Yes, I’m pretty sure they did that scan, but I’ll double check. Thanks!

  3. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your husband, pregnant daughter and your whole family as your face and pass through this challenging time in life.
    Take very good care!
