Merry Christmas to me!

New washer and dryerMerry Christmas to me! Well, really, it is for sweet hubby since I am totally blessed, and he does our laundry. But I suppose that is a year-long Christmas present of a different sort, isn’t it?

Anyway, at the end of the year, I like to buy us a little something with some of the profits I’ve earned through speaking at quilt guilds and teaching workshops. This year, we decided to replace our washer and dryer. We’ve been married for 33-1/2 years now, and we’ve never bought our own washer and dryer. We’ve always gotten by with hand-me-downs, and then we basically use them until they are dead. It was fun to actually try to decide what to get. After considering the features and the current sales, in the end we asked a repair man which are the washers and dryers that he has to fix the least, and we went with that. Really scientific, right?

I had been leaning towards a front-load washer because it is supposed to be gentler of fabric, and it finally won out when we learned that the dryer could be stacked on top. That is a bonus for us because our “laundry room” is a converted coat closet. Stacking the appliances left room for sweet hubby to add a few shelves so we could store cleaning products, extra towels, and other odds and ends in that little cubbyhole. Plus he added a rod so he could hang up clothes as they come out of the dryer. Isn’t he wonderful?

And since the washer and dryer were really for him, what did I get for myself? I broke down and upgraded my iPad, and then I gave my old iPad to DD#2. I’m not entirely altruistic, though. Now we can do video FaceTime with Hazel!

I hope your Christmas was wonderful, too!

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Merry Christmas to you, as well…practical gifts are always a good investment…actually. when we make a “major” purchase for the year we rationalize that i will be a gift for whichever holiday of birthday, anniversary, etc. is next…and getting more face time with that beautiful granddaughter will be your best gift…
