Ohio River Valley Artist Guild

Just two hours away from Dayton or Columbus, or one hour away from Cincinnati, nestled right along the Ohio River, is the charming little town of Maysville, Kentucky. That’s where you will find the Ohio River Valley Artist Guild. During the month of March they are holding “The Art of Quilts” exhibit. Four of my quilts, Sheer Whim, Redeeming Fragments, Blue Dave, and Violinist will be a part of their … Continue reading

Review of 2013

My family

It’s nice to look back and reflect a bit, so here’s my short review of 2013. Thankfully it was a bit less eventful than 2012. There were several things I split my attention between. I spent quite a bit of time speaking and teaching at numerous quilt guilds across the country. Sweet hubby and I traveled to California, Des Moines, Decatur, and all over Ohio. I’ve included the long trips … Continue reading

SAQA: People & Portraits Exhibit

I’ve mentioned before that my two quilts, Windblown and Surrender, are part of a special SAQA exhibit which includes twenty of the featured artists in the Art Quilt Portfolio: People and Portraits book. The first place these quilts were shown was at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Special exhibits of this kind normally do not allow photography, but because I have two quilts in it, the curator of … Continue reading

2013 Quilt Odyssey

Windblown has been traveling a bit this summer. This past weekend it was at Quilt Odyssey in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It came home on Wednesday with a little something extra tucked into its box. Inside was an honorable mention ribbon and some very nice comments from the judges. … Continue reading

2013 IQF Cincinnati, part 2

I thought I’d share a few more quilts from the 2013 International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati. This one was sweet hubby’s favorite. He particularly liked the intense turquoise color. I always take pictures of beautiful quilting. Here are a few quilted details that caught my eye and begged me to stare. I’ll leave you with just one more that made me smile. This one was made by a quilter who … Continue reading

2013 IQF Cincinnati

Today was the opening day of the International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati. It sounded like a nice little get-away, since it is only an hour away from us, so off we went. It was a rainy day, but everything was bright and cheery inside the show. On the second floor, there is a walkway that spans the width of the convention center. I always love looking out over the showroom … Continue reading

Decatur Quilt Fest

I was priviledged to be the featured speaker for the Decatur Quilt Festival recently. It was sponsored by the Decatur Quilters Guild. They held their show at the Decatur Civic Center. It was such a beautiful venue to showcase the 300 quilts that were on display. They had even more quilts draped over the banister along the walkway overlooking the venue. They gave me space to display some of my … Continue reading

Quilt Fest of New Jersey IX

If you’re close to New Jersey, the Quilt Fest of New Jersey runs from February 28 through March 3. I heard that the ribbon winners from the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival are supposed to be on display. So, that means “Windblown” should be there. Boy, my quilts definitely travel more than I do! If you’re at the show, stop in, say “hi!,” and snap a quick picture for me, okay? … Continue reading
