Lil’ Twister quilt

Last Saturday was Craft Saturday for the women of our church. We try to do it about once a month or so. It was tough to squeeze one in this month, but we have so much fun together, talking and eating and crafting, and we really didn’t want to miss out! One of the ladies had recently purchased a Lil’ Twister tool and was willing to show us how to use it. It looked like a quick and easy quilt, so I decided to make one too. The layout I used is called “Twisted Heart.” I dug out some 5″ charm squares that I bought years ago, a couple of polka dot prints, and a kids’ print, and I was ready for craft day!

1. I used precut charms combined with polka dot prints.
2. I began sewing around 1 in the afternoon.
3. Piecing the 49 squares went very quickly.
4. Then 3″ strips were sewn to all sides.
5. Once the top is pieced, the Lil’ Twister tool is positioned over the seams.
6. This is what is left behind. That little square that is left is less than 1-1/2″ square.
7. Once the squares are rotated slightly, the pinwheels appear.
8. I laid out all the squares to make sure I positioned them all correctly.
9. All the squares are stitched and ready for the borders. The top was completely sewn and pressed before 5 PM.

And here is the completed quilt top. Not bad for four hours of fun.
