Today I did another sample for SewCalGal’s 2012 Free-Motion Quilting Challenge. The guest teacher for May was Leah Day. Many people became familiar with Leah when she made small free motion sample each day for a year. She has tons of information and videos on her website, so it is well worth a visit if you haven’t been there already.
For this month, Leah introduced everyone to two all-over, free-motion patterns. The first was a double stipple pattern. I did that pattern in the lower right corner of the sample above. Then I decided to do a variation on the pattern by making pairs of wonky leaves in the upper right corner.
The second pattern Leah taught is Railroad tracks. It is a variation of the double stipple, only with more rectangular elements. I practiced that pattern in the upper left corner of my sample. Then I did a variation on that pattern in the lower left corner by making triangles, and it ended up looking like a kite tail.
I was having lots of trouble with tension on my machine today, but honestly, I just wanted to be finished with this, so I just kept pushing forward. On a day that I have extra spare time, I’ll have to figure out why George is misbehaving.

Me llama la atención que con todo lo que tu haces además sigas el FMQ Challenge. De todas formas es una manera divertida de aprender y mejorar nuestros acolchados. Felicidades por tu trabajo.
