Today my sweet hubby, Dave, went to be home with the Lord. It was unexpected, and he will be greatly missed. If you were ever at one of my lectures or workshops, know that Dave was a big part of each one of those. It is because of him that I traveled to speak and teach. He was my chauffeur, my pack mule, my chief cheerleader. He believed in me. He encouraged me to develop as an artist and a quilter, and he was quick to brag to everyone and anyone about my quilts. He said I was his hobby. He wasn’t perfect, but I never doubted that he was mine, and I was his.
Some of you may know that he was a pastor. We moved from San Diego to Dayton, Ohio in 1991 to start Calvary Chapel of Dayton. He loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength. He loved the people unconditionally. He was always ready with a great big hug. He really wanted to hug each person as they arrived and before they left. I was so blessed to have walked alongside him for more than 34 years.

I am so sorry, to hear this. Your husband was so warm and inviting. You know Cole adored him on sight and poodles are never wrong. Your mate was also kind to me and your connection was so strong as to be visible. I feel your loss. LeeAnna
You never failed to mention Dave without showing the strength of your bond and the happiness you and he shared. I am so sorry to read about his passing.

So sorry for you on the loss of your husband.
I am so very sorry, Maria. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers.
Praying for you and your family as you prepare for the funeral. Knowing that he loved you, and that he loved the Lord, you will see him again. I pray you will have peace knowing that he is with Lord. God bless you and strengthen you in the days ahead.
Oh Maria! I’m so very sorry (and quite shocked) to hear this news. I remember Dave from the workshop you did in Atlanta for the East Cobb Quilt Guild. He was such a kind person, I could tell even from that brief meeting. He told me that he wrote a book about angels, and I can’t remember the name of it. Is it in print? Is there a way to get one? Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.
Yes, you have a good memory. He did write a book called “Fallen Stars.” It is available on Amazon in either paperback or Kindle versions.
So sorry for your loss, Maria. My condolences to you and your children.
Maria – Mike and I are so extremely sorry for your loss, yet joyful in knowing that Dave knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and is in HIS very presence at this moment. We know that Jesus will be returning soon. I’m thankful for all the lives that Dave, and you as well, have touched in your ministry in Dayton. You are loved. Kathy And Mike Spaulding
Maria, He was such a dear person and I did enjoy speaking with him the last time you were at our MVAQN meeting. You could tell he enjoyed being there with you and the group . No words from me can ease your loss and that of your family!
I am both shocked and saddened to read this. I took your portrait class in Ft. Collins, CO, and Dave was right there helping you and the rest of us. It was one of the best classes I’ve ever taken because of you two wonderful, wonderful people. Please accept my deepest sympathies. I hope you find peace and comfort through your family, friends, and church.
