There were several ideas I wanted to convey in this quilt and there were several design ideas I wanted to try. First, I wanted to depict an ideal love between father and daughter. This quilt is a picture of my husband and my oldest daughter. I also wanted it to depict the security that we can feel in our Heavenly Father’s arms. In addition, I have long admired Art Nouveau artists. There is something about the curvilinear lines that strikes a chord with me and I wanted to try to capture that same feeling. This piece is fused, machine appliqued using straight stitch, contrasting zigzag and invisible zigzag. It is free motion machine quilted. The girl’s face is enhanced with Pigma pens and Prismacolor pencils.
