1993 Christmas ornaments

This is the year the girls began collecting things. DD#2 had been interested in rocks for years (in fact, the Christmas when she was three, all she wanted for Christmas was rocks), but this year we went to a rock show in Cincinnati. She was thrilled by the vast array of colorful rocks. This agate slab was one of the rocks we bought that day.

DD#1 wanted to collect something too. I’m of the opinion that our family should only have one “expert” on any given topic, so DD#1 decided she would collect buttons. She especially liked the metal ones with little pictures that she interpreted as various stories. So, we went to a button show that year, too, so she could learn more about buttons. I ended up collecting a few blue and white ones, too.
