To commemorate those times, I made these tiny three-dimensional tea cups. I was inspired by a lady in my quilt guild who published a quilted tea cup pattern, but they were full-size and I needed smaller ones for the ornaments, so I drafted out my own. Since the pieces were so small, I ended up hand piecing them. The insides are lined with satin so they would be shiny, and the tea bags were made out of an irridescent organza and filled with whole cloves.
For several years while I was working full-time outside the home, I was off on Mondays so every week the girls and I would have a tea party when they got home from school. We each had a favorite tea cup and favorite tea, and I would get special fancy cookies, and we would just sit and talk.

Love the teacup ornaments. How clever to put cloves in the ‘bags’. Your fabric choice is perfect!
