After our midnight hotel adventure of the previous night, we arrived as rested as possible, ready for a full day workshop with the Rocky Mountain Creative Quilters. There were twenty-two women signed up for the fused appliqué portrait workshop. Several of them mentioned that this was far outside their comfort zone. I reassured them that they would do fine, and that I wanted them to enjoy the process. Just look at how their portraits turned out!
I’m always thrilled when I watch the student responses at the end of the day 🙂
The next day was the guild’s meeting. They meet in a room where they can pin their show-and-tell to the walls. Eighteen people brought their portraits to share with their guild. They placed the original photo next to their fused portrait, which made it really fun to see the great likenesses. You should have heard the rave views!
In the distance of this photo, you can see that I pinned some of my journal quilts to the wall too. I was happy to share my quilty passion with this group: people and portrait quilts made by more than fifty quilt artists, followed by a trunk show of my own work.

I love seeing your students beautiful portraits at the different workshops you so generously present. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Have a great day.
Always, Queenie
Great class and sooooo fun! It was one of the best things I have done. I have posted my project on the web and on facebook. I have even selected 4 other photos and practiced with photoshop. YAY!
Maria, are you coming back for the intermediate and advanced classes?
I had a great time, and I’d be happy to come back 🙂
