I’ve been fairly quiet online the last week or so, but I’ve been busy behind the scenes. Now that I’ve met my deadline, I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what I’ve been up to, but I can’t give you any specific details yet.
Jane Davila of Quilting Arts In Stitches eMag asked me to write a short article for the April 2011 issue. She wanted me to explain how I quilt faces. That was pretty amazing and fairly scary too.
Because this is a digital magazine, they wanted me to include a short video. I’ve never shot video before and my camera is only a couple months old so I’m still unfamiliar with everything it can do. I dug out the owner’s manual (yikes!) and actually read the instructions! Next I had to figure out a way to position the camera so it had a clear view of the sewing machine needle but wasn’t in the way when I needed to move my elbow. After a few problem-solving sessions, I finally filmed myself quilting a portrait in only ten minutes — quite a feat since it would normally take much longer.
Poor DH had to put up with me while I stressed out and worked through all of the different elements that needed to be completed. Now that I’m done and everything has been sent off to the publisher, I’m really excited about all of this. I’ll be sure to let everyone know when it’s published.
