Take the Labeling Pledge

Quilt Alliance is on a mission to get all quilters to label their quilts. According to a survey that they cite, only 58% of quilters regularly label their quilts. They currently have a pledge form you can fill out where you can pledge to label your own quilts. This has been an issue near and dear to my heart. In 1999 I had a quilt that went missing during shipment. … Continue reading

Machine Quilting Unlimited

Machine Quilting Unlimited March/April 2015

I had a nice little pat on the back recently. Diane Doran of Machine Quilting Unlimited wanted to use an image of my quilt, “Strawberry Delight,” for a gallery of quilts featuring children. Of course I said, “Hmmm…let me think about it for a nanosecond…” Yep, I immediately said YES! A couple days ago I got the March/April 2015 issue in the mail and I flipped to pages 28-29 with … Continue reading

Windblown on the front page!

I received a lovely surprise today. Meryl Ann Butler emailed me to let me know that Windblown is on the front page today! See it there at the bottom of the photo to the left? Meryl Ann wrote a terrific article, “Move Over, Monet: Quilt Art is Fine Art” and she included a photo of Windblown along with my brief description of my goals for that particular quilt. I spent quite a bit of time speaking and teaching at numerous quilt guilds across the country. Sweet hubby and I traveled to California, Des Moines, Decatur, and all over Ohio. I’ve included the long trips … Continue reading

Munsell Color Blog

Last month, I was contacted by Jannette who manages the Munsell Color Blog. Their blog features people who use Munsell Color in their work or other activities, and she asked if I would be interested in writing a guest post for their blog about how I use Munsell Color theory in my quiltmaking. Of course, I said yes! What a great opportunity to introduce art quilts to a greater audience. … Continue reading

Machine Quilting Unlimited, November/December 2013 issue

This weekend’s mail brought the November/December 2013 issue of Machine Quilting Unlimited. Inside is my article on labeling quilts which, after nearly 15 years of maintaining the Lost Quilt Come Home website (http://lostquilt.com/), is a topic very near and dear to me. I jumped at the chance to write this article for them. While I was writing the article, I revised a couple of articles and blog posts that I … Continue reading
