Last year I wrote a short article for Quilting Arts magazine called “Quick and Easy Silhouette Quilts.” Today, it will be republished in a new free eBook from Interweave on Quilting for Beginners. You can get your free download from Quilting Daily.
I started making silhouettes because I wanted a very easy method that even absolute beginners could make.
In fact, this silhouette project is so easy that anyone who can cut with a pair of scissors can do it! No sewing or quilting is required, but it is also a nice, small project to practice your free motion quilting skills, if you like.
I also wrote a couple tutorials for making a single silhouette or a family silhouette. The article in the free eBook gives additional information, too.
These make great gifts and they really are SO EASY! In a single day, you could make several and the recipients love them!
As a sidenote, the young couple in the sunset silhouette at the top of this post is the one who is currently working their way through a very difficult pregnancy. Thank you so much for all the well wishes and prayers you’ve sent their way.
