Day 23 – finally home from our triple adventure!

Late afternoon yesterday, we finally arrived home! We began our traveling marathon on October 26 when we drove to Atlanta where I taught a fused applique portrait workshop and a color class, and I did a trunk show and lecture for the East Cobb Quilters Guild.

We returned home for two days and then on November 1 we flew to Houston for the International Quilt Festival so I could visit “Windblown.” (If you’re interested, Luana Rubin of eQuilter just posted a video of the 2011 IQF awards ceremony on YouTube.)

We returned home for one day and bright and early on the morning of November 7 we set off for our eleven-day Colorado adventure! We drove to Grand Junction so I could speak and teach at two quilt guilds, and then we continued on to Fort Collins for another lecture and workshop. We squeezed in a few other interesting stops, too.

Of course, I’ll be sharing bits and pieces of that over the next few days. (I took more than 400 pictures, so I have a few I can show you!) You will definitely want to see the portraits the three guilds made. Plus, I had the joy of visiting the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museumen in Golden, Colorado AND the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska! This was also the first time we drove over the Rockies, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The weather was perfect — not a flake of snow.

I’m so thankful for everyone (especially DH!) who helped me get everything organized and ready to go before we left for Atlanta. We had so many fun times, met many interesting people, and saw such wonderful things, but I still like my own bed best!
