For everyone staying home, the Blogger’s Quilt Festival has emerged and I’m participating! This way we can all still see loads of terrific quilts, even if we’re not in Houston right now.
In honor of the BQF, I’m sharing Sheer Whim with a whole new group of friends (Hi, everyone!). I made this quilt as an experiment. I love incorporating portraits on my quilts, but sometimes just a simple portrait seems boring. This time I decided to take a hand-drawn portrait and overlay it with sheer fabrics. I like how it partially obscures and partially reveals different parts of the face. I also like the hide-and-seek grid that is created. Usually, when I quilt a portrait, I follow the contours of the face, trying to increase the three-dimensional quality. This time I decided to completely ignore that. Instead, I quilted a series of fantasy feathers, creating another layer.

How many ways can you say beautiful! I find this absolutely…well I just that you know what I think. My quilts are strickly traditional, but I have great appreachation for those who can take it further. You did a wonderfu job.

Only 90 miles? I’m SO jealous!!! If I lived 90 miles away, there would NEVER be a question on whether I would go or not. I would go every day, every year! YES! You must go and think of me the whole time 🙂
