Hot color quilt tops
Yesterday’s commitments were postponed because it was only 3 degrees outside, so I turned on the little space heater in my studio, popped in a movie, and went to work. I had so much fun pulling out hot colors! What a way to warm up. This first quilt top is all the colors I hardly ever use. I love how bright and vivid it is!
For the second top, I put the top colors on top of very dark blues. One thing I learned: If you are going to purposely make wonky stars, don’t just do it a little, do it a lot. I think I should have tilted the squares more and made it really obvious when I cut of the star tips. When it’s only done half-heartedly, it just looks accidental and sloppy.

Hi Maria,
I am so enjoying your recent posts on color.
I look forward to all you have to share with us.
Your portrait quilts are incredible, and you inspired me to begin working on my own portraits. I recently became interested in Neocolor II Crayons, so used them to create a portrait of a family member. You can view it on my blog if you like:

I included a tutorial on using the Neocolor II crayons.
Thanks again for all you share,
