I saved this one for Valentine’s Day because I ❤ my Modular Mates! Let me just say up front that I think they are the best line Tupperware ever invented; followed closely by their Square Rounds. Sorry, there can be no debate. Modular Mates are the whole reason I started selling Tupperware to begin with. And yes, I’m still using most of the Tupperware that I bought way back then, nearly thirty years ago. After all these years, I can’t imagine trying to organize my kitchen without Modular Mates. In my little world, all Tupperware should be either blue or clear or, if all else fails, white. Okay, now you know I’m narrow minded when it comes to Tupperware! And no, I’m not receiving a commission. I’d rather quilt.
When I need a very thin container to hold some pens or other small objects about the same size, this oval Modular Mate does the trick nicely. I’m not exactly sure what Tupperware called it. Typically, a Modular Mate is named for its shape (oval, square, round) and its height (one through five). They are conveniently sized so that a “one” on top of a “two” is the same height as a “three,” and so on. The one above with the dark blue seal in back is an Oval One. The one in front with the bright blue seal is only half as high as a “one,” so would it be called an “Oval Half”?
Anyway, in that little slim container, I can carry a knife-edge seam ripper, two small rotary cutters, my Hera marker, my special gel pens for fabric, a chalk pencil, a 6″ ruler, and a small pair of scissors. All in a 7-1/2″ by 4″ by 1-3/8″. Of course, it could hold chocolate chips just as well. Sustenance is important while quilting, too.

Wow, my oval ‘one’ had held a stick of butter for the last 30 years! I can’t imagine anything else in it. 🙂 Didn’t know they made an oval “half.” I like it!
LOL – finally something I know – meaning they have been around long enough that I have them. Mine are the taller, canister and half canister size and I am still using them in my kitchen and I do love them.
