I was in Panera with my mom after bringing her to the dentist when I heard my cell phone ringing in my pocket. The fact that I even had my cell phone with me is rather shocking. The fact that I heard the ring above the noontime noise at Panera was amazing. So I ran outside so I could hear and I was dumbfounded. It was IQA (the International Quilt Association) calling to tell me that my quilt “Sheer Whim” won an award for the upcoming Houston show!!! I won’t find out which award until after the November 3rd awards ceremony, but we decided to get Blizzards tonight to celebrate. (On the downside, we walked for an hour first to offset some of the extra calories, but on the upside, we used a buy-one-get-one-free coupon.)

I don’t know if I’m remembering this correctly, but isn’t it a good sign if they have called you to tell you won an award? Like it’s one of the main ones or something?
It means I won a first, second, or third place ribbon in my category, and it comes with a cash award!
