Review of 2013

My family

It’s nice to look back and reflect a bit, so here’s my short review of 2013. Thankfully it was a bit less eventful than 2012. There were several things I split my attention between. I spent quite a bit of time speaking and teaching at numerous quilt guilds across the country. Sweet hubby and I traveled to California, Des Moines, Decatur, and all over Ohio. I’ve included the long trips … Continue reading

SAQA: People & Portraits Exhibit

I’ve mentioned before that my two quilts, Windblown and Surrender, are part of a special SAQA exhibit which includes twenty of the featured artists in the Art Quilt Portfolio: People and Portraits book. The first place these quilts were shown was at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. Special exhibits of this kind normally do not allow photography, but because I have two quilts in it, the curator of … Continue reading

Road to California 2013

Good news! Good news! I got good news! As you may know, the Road to California Quilter’s Conference and Showcase (road2ca.com) opens today. Sadly, after our fabulous time in the Bay Area last week, we had to go home so we are no longer in California, and I won’t get to go to the show, but two of my quilts are in the judged show. And, I just got good … Continue reading

Review of 2012

Here’s my review of 2012 (DD#2’s idea), but I’m going to start a few months earlier because I especially like those events. 🙂 So, in addition to speaking and teaching at fifteen quilt guilds in less than two years, writing twelve articles for Quilting Arts during that same time, and making three trips to California to visit my dad, here is my life for the last eighteen months in pictures. … Continue reading

Remembering Amalya

Yesterday we spent as much time as possible creating memories of our time with little Amalya. Several of us brought our Bibles with us, and we put his footprint at key verses in our Bibles. I put one footprint at Psalm 139, right over verses 13 through 15, because we believe God doesn’t make mistakes. He intended Amalya to be exactly who he was, and we truly were blessed by … Continue reading

Loving Amalya

Our sweet little Amalya arrived this morning, September 10, via cesarean section at 7:51 AM. He was 4 lbs 9 oz and measured 16-1/8″ long. We were thrilled that Mommy and Daddy had some special time with him, and then the three sets of grandparents and three great-grandmothers all had a chance to snuggle him. He lived about one hour and twenty minutes before he slipped peacefully into the loving … Continue reading

Quilting Quarterly

I got my Quilting Quarterly (Volume 41 Number 4) in the mail this week. It is the 2012 Show Special Edition which shows all the winning quilts from the 2012 NQA show. Wow! What beautiful quilts! If you weren’t able to attend the show and see them in person, this is the next best thing. It has detail shots of some of them, and mini profiles. Nestled away on page … Continue reading

2012 NQA Show

Sweet hubby and I just returned from the 43rd Annual NQA Quilt Show. (NQA stands for National Quilting Association.) I was scheduled to teach six workshops over a three day period! I was pretty nervous about that, and it took quite a bit of time to get everything prepared and ready to go. I’ve actually been preparing off and on for the last six months, but the ten days prior … Continue reading
